So, all my life I’ve been slim. When I was younger, people would tell me to “just eat” and that I was too skinny. I’ve never had to worry about my weight and I’ve always been able to eat what I wanted (not fair, I know.)
I was on a “workout kick” in high school- working out at the gym every day when I was 16 and 17. The only thing I didn’t like about working out was that it made me gain weight, and I didn’t to gain weight. I was gaining muscle- my legs were getting bigger and I didn’t like it. I was also more hungry, so I was eating more, and I was eating all the wrong stuff! Fast food and cookies!
I didn’t work out again until I was an adult. I was never able to really get into a routine. Within 6 months from the time I got married, we decided to try for a baby. I gained about 10 pounds when I went off birth control and was able to get pregnant pretty quickly. I was still thin, and didn’t gain more than 30 pounds throughout my pregnancy.
I lost the baby weight quickly, due to nursing for a year. I also went back to work at 6 weeks postpartum, so I was active every day. I did not work out at all, and was able to lose baby weight and then some. I now weigh about 10-15 pounds less than my pre-pregnancy weight.
I started working out consistently in February 2014 when I joined Beachbody as a coach. I am also eating much healthier than I ever have before. I’m not trying to lose or gain weight, just trying to be healthy! The number on the scale is not important. It’s about how you feel, your energy level and your self-confidence. I love the energy that working out gives me and the confidence it gives me! I also love how it makes me appreciate my body and the things I am capable of accomplishing.
Working out because I didn’t want to gain weight was a cop out and a really dumb excuse. I wish I would have realized this much sooner in life! Working out is a great stress reliever and confidence booster, and that’s why I love it!
